Evaluation

Yi and the Thousand Moons is a self-described "short video game musical" by solo developer David Su, released on November 24, 2017. The store description presents it as a complete, self-contained story with seven original songs and a defined cast — a finished creative work rather than an ongoing project. Post-launch, the developer shipped a handful of updates: multilingual subtitle support (Russian, German, Portuguese, French, and Spanish) on November 21, 2018, followed by additional bug fixes and a small quality-of-life patch (Steam Cloud integration and minor audio/camera improvements) on February 4, 2019. That February 2019 post is the last recorded developer communication. The only DLC — a soundtrack release — shipped on December 1, 2017 and no further DLC has been listed. No future content, roadmap, or expansion has ever been announced. The developer has been silent since February 4, 2019, but given the game's nature as a short, complete narrative musical with no announced follow-up content and no sustained update pattern pointing to more releases, this silence is consistent with a finished product rather than an abandoned one. The game launched as a complete experience and has received only maintenance-level updates since.
