2236 A.D. is a visual novel that launched on May 11, 2018. Its single DLC — an original soundtrack — released on July 23, 2018, completing the game's planned content package. Since then, the developer has issued only maintenance-type updates: a bug fix in May 2020 (v3.15), a soundtrack renewal update in August–September 2022 that replaced vocal tracks at the original vocalist's request, and an OS compatibility patch in September 2025 (v4.1.0). None of these introduced new story content or indicated that additional content was on the horizon.
In July 2021, the developer announced a free standalone prequel titled "2236 A.D. Secretary Stories," released as a separate Steam product. This was a companion piece, not an expansion to the base game.
The September 2022 soundtrack update represents the last meaningful change to the game's content. The September 2025 patch confirms the developer still maintains the game technically, but that is routine upkeep rather than a sign of new story or content development. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, and no developer statements suggesting more is planned. The game is a complete, finished visual novel.
