Evaluation
35MM is a solo-developed indie walking simulator that launched on May 27, 2016, with a soundtrack DLC following shortly after on June 6, 2016. The game is a self-contained narrative experience with no live service elements or post-launch content cadence.
The developer, Sergey Noskov, spent the years from approximately 2020 through late 2025 building a new game, Hail to the Rainbow, which launched on November 27, 2025. Following that release, in a December 31, 2025 New Year's post — the most recent official communication about 35MM — the developer stated intentions to return to 35MM: specifically, to update it to a newer engine version, add full gamepad support, a photo mode, and new language options. No deadlines were given, but these are meaningful additions beyond routine maintenance.
As of today, October 8, 2026, that December 31, 2025 statement remains the last known communication about 35MM, roughly nine months ago. While the developer has not followed up with any further announcements or updates for 35MM specifically, the stated intent has not been walked back either. The developer is a proven active solo creator who has consistently followed through on projects over many years. Given the absence of any retraction or contradicting statement, the December 2025 plans remain the best available signal about what is coming to the game.
Evidence
Developer stated intentions to update 35MM to a newer engine version and add full gamepad support, a photo mode, and new languages — explicitly framed as something they have in mind following work on Hail to the Rainbow. No deadlines given.
Developer announced the release of their new project Hail to the Rainbow, which had occupied their attention for the prior six years. The completion of this project freed the developer to potentially return to 35MM.
