A Short Hike

A Short Hike launched on July 30, 2019 as a complete, self-contained experience. The developer, adamgryu, shipped one meaningful free content update post-launch: the Boating Update on August 18, 2020, which added a motorboat and was released to coincide with the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Prior to the Steam launch, a content update called "The Extra Mile" added fishing, new characters, and various refinements. Following the Boating Update, the developer continued to issue smaller patches — adding multilingual support and save slots (June 2020), Steam Deck compatibility fixes (March 2022), new achievements for Xbox and PlayStation releases (November 2021), and a controller compatibility patch (December 2023). The most recent developer communication, dated May 2, 2026, was a seven-year anniversary post celebrating the milestone with a 50% sale and newly added Steam Trading Cards and community items. This post contained no announcements of new content or future development plans — it reads as a retrospective celebration rather than a signal of ongoing development. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap, and no developer statements indicating further content is planned. The game was designed and sold as a complete, finite experience, and the post-launch update history reflects maintenance and platform support rather than a content expansion cadence. The content of the game has been complete since the Boating Update in August 2020.
