Alterium Shift entered Steam Early Access on July 5, 2023 and remains in that state. The developer, Drattzy Games LLC, has maintained a consistent pattern of major updates throughout the Early Access period: a large patch on July 6, 2023 expanding regions and content; Version 1.3.0 in November 2023 adding menus and localization; Version 1.4.0 in August 2024 following a publisher separation (which the developer explicitly confirmed would not stop development); Version 1.5.0 in November 2025 — the largest update since 1.4.0 — bringing story content and new systems; Version 1.6.0 in March 2026 with extensive new character animations, overworld improvements, and on-map ability systems; and Version 1.7.0 on September 14, 2026, just three days before today's assessment date. The v1.7.0 release notes are explicit: "Version 1.7.0 is an Early Access update, not the full 2.0 release." The notes also flag that Echo Realm rooms remain inaccessible in this version and that the carnival-game tent is temporarily closed while replacement minigames are being prepared — both clear signals that content is still being built. The November 2025 v1.5.0 post stated the main story was approximately 75% complete at that time, with more coming in subsequent updates. The Kickstarter campaign (announced December 2024, actively referenced through the August 2025 PAX West announcement) has been funding additional features including companion pets, on-map battles, and cooking/alchemy systems. The developer remains actively engaged, with the most recent communication just days ago.

Characters:

On-Map Abilities:

Each character will have an on-map ability that allows them to explore areas the others can't. For instance, Pyra can slice through rocks and Atlas and shoot far off targets. Find hidden treasure or even experience story based elements!

Combat:

Alterium Shift has a full featured turn-based combat system with a turn-order display for important decision making! Exploit enemy weaknesses and gain experience to grow your party into an unstoppable force! Charge up your Burst Bar for powerful burst abilities! Of course, the loot you earn will also help you a long your journey as well.
