Amarillo's Butt Slapper launched as a free-to-play game on October 4, 2024 and has received consistent updates ever since. The developer shipped a Halloween event shortly after launch (October 2024), a Holidays event update with 12 new collectable Butts in November 2024, a "Slap Report" feature patch adding more Butts in February 2025, a summer Vault Event with 36 new Butts in July 2025, and most recently the Beat Slapper Mode DLC on June 5, 2026 — a full rhythm game mode allowing players to load custom songs with procedurally generated note patterns. The developer has been candid about capacity constraints: in November 2024 they noted development was being handed to an experienced partner due to complexity, and in October 2025 they acknowledged slower updates due to time spent on another project (Desktop Pets). Despite these acknowledgements, content updates have continued at a sustained pace across the game's 20-month history. The Beat Slapper Mode DLC shipped just two weeks before today's date, and bug fixes for Steam Deck compatibility were posted as recently as May 2026. All released DLC is now shipped, but the game's ongoing history of seasonal events and content drops — without any developer statement that development is concluding — indicates the game is still in an active phase of post-launch support.
