Ancient Dungeon VR remains in Steam Early Access and is under active, sustained development toward a 1.0 release. The developer Eric Thullen published a "Road to 1.0" devlog on September 25, 2024, outlining major planned milestones including alternate floors, a proper story ending, new weapons, and PSVR2 multiplayer parity. The game has since delivered on that roadmap with a steady stream of major updates: new alternate floors and enemies on December 5, 2024; a new Magic weapon class and modding overhaul on July 31, 2025; a full Arena wave-defense game mode on October 30, 2025; a new Flail weapon class with sweeping system reworks on January 30, 2026; and the "Stay Together" multiplayer save and host migration update on April 30, 2026. Most recently, the developer published a devlog on August 13, 2026 previewing new content still being built behind the scenes, and a hotfix patch shipped on August 21, 2026 — both confirming the team is actively working. The store description still references PSVR2 cross-play as "coming soon," indicating ongoing platform work. The developer has not announced a 1.0 release date or declared development complete.
