Мафия шахматы (Жмурки) is a free-to-play 1v1 online mafia game that launched on March 10, 2023. It is structured as an ongoing online service with rated matchmaking, a friends system with persistent statistics, and purchasable roles and cosmetic decorations. KartuzOv Games has maintained a consistent stream of updates since launch. Early updates in March and May 2023 introduced balance changes, new roles, and cosmetic decoration features. Additional roles arrived in July and August 2023. In May 2024, two more new roles were added. October 2024 brought a full friends system with per-friend match statistics. June 21, 2025 saw the release of "Mafia Chess 2.0" — a substantial overhaul with globally reworked graphics, a new lights-out gameplay mechanic, four new role enhancements, and new decor content. The most recent update, posted on August 28, 2026, added further role enhancements (Detective, Concierge, Miner, and Dog Handler) and expanded the enhancement selection system. This is the latest in an unbroken chain of feature additions stretching across more than three years of post-launch development. The developer has made no statement indicating the end of updates or development.
