Arena of Kings

Arena of Kings launched on December 17, 2021 as a free-to-play online arena game with seasonal competitive rankings, rotating cosmetic items in its store, and ongoing balance patches — the structure of a live service game designed to run indefinitely. The developer (Villain Games LLC) was initially very active, posting frequent patch notes and feature updates throughout December 2021 and into early 2022, building out ranked seasons, EU server support, a quest system, and class balance changes. However, on July 16, 2022, the developer posted patch notes alongside an announcement that "Arena of Kings 2" is in development. That post is the last known communication from the studio. No further updates, patch notes, or status reports have appeared since that date — nearly four years of silence as of June 2026. The situation is uncertain because the sequel announcement could mean the original game is being wound down in favor of a new title, or it could mean both games are being developed in parallel. The developer has not clarified either position. The game remains available and free to play, but it is impossible to determine whether meaningful development is still ongoing for either the original game or its announced sequel.
