Evaluation

ArsonVille launched on November 24, 2016, originally developed in 48 hours for Ludum Dare before being polished for Steam release. Following launch, the developer was actively engaged through 2017, shipping several feature updates — adding new map objects like the Silo (August 26, 2017) and Tractor (August 27, 2017), visual improvements, and Steam integration work. In February 2017, the developer published a candid post sharing ambitious future plans including campaign levels, a level editor, Steam Workshop moddability, and larger maps. However, these were aspirational in nature, and the developer explicitly acknowledged the risks of overcommitting as a solo developer working in their spare time. The last developer communication of any kind was the mobile port announcement on September 5, 2017, which marked the game's arrival on iOS and Android. No updates, patches, blog posts, or any form of developer communication have appeared since that date — a silence spanning nearly nine years as of June 2026. The planned features discussed in early 2017 (campaigns, level editor, moddability, leaderboards) were never delivered and have not been mentioned since. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no active roadmap, and no developer statements indicating ongoing work. Given the complete cessation of all activity after September 5, 2017, the game is best understood as a compact, self-contained casual experience that has reached the end of its post-launch support cycle. The store description itself frames the game around its procedural generation as its replay driver, with no reference to planned additions.

About this game

You have only one chance to start the fire. Make it count.

In ArsonVille, your goal is to place combustible objects throughout a peaceful village before igniting a single flame. Once the fire begins, there is no turning back. Watch it spread across the map, burn houses, consume trees, and see how much of the village you can destroy.

Every playthrough offers a new challenge thanks to procedurally generated maps, giving you endless opportunities to experiment with different strategies and fire paths.

Features

  • Plan your setup before lighting a single fire.

  • Burn houses, trees, and everything the flames can reach.

  • Procedurally generated maps for endless replayability.

  • Casual gameplay focused on experimentation and destruction.
