Asteroids ++ launched as a free-to-play game on June 20, 2024 and has been receiving continuous, substantial updates ever since. The developer has shipped at least six major content updates across roughly two years, covering new game modes, weapons, campaigns, enemy types, a roguelite mode, online multiplayer, and now a full relic system.
The most recent major update — version 1.4.2, released on August 2, 2026 — added over 100 unique relics to the Endless Run mode, expanding that roguelite experience significantly. This follows version 1.4.0 (April 2, 2026), which introduced the Endless Run mode itself along with online multiplayer (then in beta). Before that, the game received a 10-planet collaboration campaign in September 2025, two new campaigns in June 2025, five paid DLC packs in February 2025, and a completionist tracking system in January 2026.
The store description references seasonal campaign additions and weekly planet events, consistent with a game designed around ongoing content delivery. A developer post from January 26, 2026 also teased "a new free campaign is coming," and the 1.4.0 notes described multiplayer as "currently in beta and being extensively tested" — both suggesting continued work ahead.
The developer also mentioned in October 2025 that they are working on a separate new game (Monophobia Echoes), but this has not slowed Asteroids ++ updates — version 1.4.2 shipped as recently as August 2, 2026, just 25 days before today's date. There is no indication from the developer that content development for Asteroids ++ is winding down.

Asteroids ++ is the best Asteroids clone you will ever play in your life.
The Year is 2450.
Humanity has expanded their technology and improved in Rocketry. There was nothing out of the ordinary until disaster struck!A moon one light year away exploded and has spread asteroids all over our solar system, this is where YOU come in!
You play as one of the captains who will control one of the spaceships! Go from planet to planet and get rid of the Asteroids!
When starting the game, you randomly generate sectors in planets based on set seed.
Inside the shop, expect to buy and customize parts for your spaceship. There are a bunch of weapons, abilities and unique utilities, which give over one million possible combinations for your loadout.
Each weapon is unique.
- Shoot homing rockets that lock onto the biggest Asteroids, or have recruitments collect money instead of you doing it!
- Stop time with the Timestop ability or DROP DOWN A F______ NUKE
- Upgrade your speed upgrade for the spaceship so you can be so fast that your spaceship pierces through Asteroids!
In the game you'll face different types of enemies.
- Yellow Asteroids split up into more smaller ones than usual
- UFOs mimic the player's weapons and will try to use them against you.
- A Triplet is a spinning triplet of big asteroids that sprrads out smaller asteroids!
Contribute and trade in the steam market!
Gather dropped items in-game to be able to listen to songs, play additional campaigns, spawn owned asteroids from your inventory in Sandbox Mode, and more!
This game uses the steam inventory and makes the items MATTER
