Astral Ascension is no longer available for purchase on Steam. The developer, PixelFade, announced on January 19, 2026 that the studio was retiring and that all of their games would be removed from sale the following month. This has come to pass — the game currently has no purchase options available on the store. Existing owners retain access to download and play the game through their libraries, but no new purchases are possible.
The game itself had a full journey before this point: it launched out of Early Access on May 30, 2025 as a complete visual novel with full voice-over, fully animated sprites, and all story content in place. A macOS version was added on July 28, 2025. PixelFade closed the studio on their own terms, expressing pride in what they had accomplished — there are no outstanding content commitments or unfinished promises associated with the game's removal.

About this game
Story
After being wrongfully terminated from the Investigations Agency of Polaris, our Protagonist struggles to find a piloting job that doesn't have him blacklisted. With no options left, he joins the mercenary ship of Aetos to continue supporting his ill sister and to find a way to clear his name.
Embarking on missions with the stoic captain Iris, the cheery engineer Vaela, the playful doctor Luna, and the suave navigator Kai, the team will travel across multiple star systems and meet all sorts of personalities!
As the player, your choices not only affect mission outcomes, but also determine how relationships grow... and possibly blossom into romance!
