Evaluation
ATOM RPG originally launched in December 2018 and the developer declared it content-complete with the V1.1 Dead City update on May 29, 2019. However, AtomTeam has continued investing in the game well beyond that point.
As of October 6, 2026 — the studio's 10th anniversary — the developer posted a major update announcing several concrete upcoming additions. First, a new paid DLC called Plague Island has been announced and is coming soon: it features dozens of new characters and quests, a new island map, and multiple locations including a sealed pre-war bunker, a survivor settlement, and pirate forts. Second, co-op multiplayer support is in development and planned for release with update 1.2.5. The current 1.2.1 beta — already available — adds expanded weapons, attachments, ammunition, and significant combat AI improvements.
This follows a consistent pattern of the developer re-engaging with the original game. In October 2025, a beta patch (1.191) shipped engine and visual improvements as part of a planned Enhanced Edition. In April 2026, the developer confirmed co-op systems were well underway. The October 2026 anniversary post is the most recent communication and clearly describes imminent content releases with specific named deliverables.
