Backrooms: Exploration

Backrooms: Exploration launched on Steam on April 4, 2025 and reached its full 1.0 release on May 2, 2025, adding five new levels, new game modes, and other improvements. The developer also released a soundtrack DLC alongside those updates. On May 13, 2025, the developer announced Backrooms: Reminiscence as a sequel and explicitly called it "the final Backrooms game," signaling that Backrooms: Exploration itself was complete. Backrooms: Reminiscence launched on October 31, 2025, and a January 26, 2026 post confirmed the developer had moved on to an entirely new project called Eclipse. Most recently, on May 24, 2026, the developer released a "Remake Update" — a substantial overhaul of Backrooms: Exploration featuring a new main menu, new areas, a new ending, a graphics overhaul, optimizations, and sound improvements. This appears to be a final polish pass timed to coincide with a Backrooms movie releasing May 29, 2026. A bug fix for achievements followed on May 26, 2026. No further content has been announced for Backrooms: Exploration. The developer has clearly moved on to Eclipse as their next project. The game now exists as a complete, polished package following the Remake Update.
