Backrooms: Found Footage

Backrooms: Found Footage launched on October 25, 2024 as a short, self-contained found-footage horror experience with two endings. Two days after launch, the developer announced a sequel (then called Backrooms: Found Footage 2) and noted plans for bug fixes to the original while focusing on the sequel. The sequel was later renamed Backrooms: Exploration and launched on Steam in early access on April 4, 2025 — a separate game entirely. On November 7, 2025, the developer released a "Remaster Update" for Backrooms: Found Footage, adding new mechanics, updated visuals, lighting, sound, and a reimagined menu, while preserving the original endings. Most decisively, on October 31, 2025, the developer released Backrooms: Reminiscence — a separate title — and explicitly stated it was "my last Backrooms game." This was reaffirmed in a January 26, 2026 post announcing a brand-new non-Backrooms project called Eclipse. The developer's statement that Backrooms: Reminiscence was their final Backrooms title, combined with the pivot to a new IP, makes clear that no further content is coming to Backrooms: Found Footage. The November 7, 2025 Remaster Update appears to be the final update this game will receive.
