Backwoods Town

Backwoods Town is a solo-developed Early Access game that received consistent and substantial updates from its November 2023 launch through November 2024. The developer shipped six major content updates during that period, steadily expanding the game with new NPCs, biomes, mechanics (electricity, farming, animal husbandry), and more — all working toward the stated goal of rebuilding a destroyed settlement and finding its inhabitants. However, on February 26, 2025, the developer posted a statement explaining that they had been mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine approximately two months prior and are unable to continue working on the game. They expressed hope for the war to end and for everyone to return home safely. This is the last communication from the developer, and no updates of any kind have been posted since that date. The game remains purchasable on Steam in its Early Access state. Development is not formally cancelled — the developer has not announced abandonment — but active work has stopped due to circumstances outside the developer's control. Prospective buyers should be aware that the game is currently in an unfinished Early Access state with no active development and no timeline for resumption.
