Banzai Escape 2: Subterranean officially exited Early Access on August 13, 2026 with Version 0.5.0, a major milestone update that added an upgradeable lobby, new progression systems, gacha mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements. The developer chose to launch at version 0.5.0 rather than 1.0, explicitly stating this was to "keep the door open for further polishing and minor fixes." Critically, that same launch post confirmed the Harbor Mission — a large new zone featuring a mech system, new weapons, new enemies, and a new boss — is actively in development, with an estimated completion time of 1.5 to 2 years and no set release date. On August 18, 2026, just five days after launch, the developer posted again to confirm: "Is this the end of development? Nope! We're still improving the game, adding new content, and polishing the experience." This game has a long history of post-launch major content updates going back to November 2023 (Operation Hi-Way Down), March 2024 (Operation Hi-Way Down Finale), October 2025 (Operation Home Brain -Sweep-), and November 2025 (new weapon DLC and patch). The Harbor Mission represents the next major chapter, with the developer openly committed to delivering it over the coming years. All 22 DLC items currently listed are released, but new content is explicitly planned beyond what is currently in the store.
