Beat Hazard launched on April 15, 2010 and has remained under active care from its solo developer, Steve at Cold Beam Games, for over 15 years. Both DLC packs — Beat Hazard Ultra (June 16, 2011) and Shadow Operations Unit (April 17, 2014) — have shipped. Despite no new paid DLC being listed, the developer has continued to ship meaningful free updates to the game. On September 24, 2025, Cold Beam Games released a free update adding six new licensed music tracks, sprite mod support, and 4K resolution — tied to the simultaneous launch of Beat Hazard Arcade on PlayStation. On April 6, 2024, a 14th Birthday update added OST playback across all three Beat Hazard games plus a one-hour remix track. The developer is also actively expanding the Beat Hazard series: Beat Hazard 3 officially launched as v1.0 on June 22, 2024 after an Early Access period. Beat Hazard Arcade launched on iOS and Android on July 7, 2026 (announced June 9, 2026), and the developer has publicly gauged community interest in bringing Beat Hazard Arcade to Steam with VR support, new weapons, enemies, and competitive leaderboards. The most recent developer communication was on June 9, 2026 — just 19 days before today. Cold Beam Games is clearly engaged and active. This is an original game that continues to receive free content updates as part of an ongoing series, with no developer statement suggesting updates to this title have concluded.
