Beneath steel clouds

Beneath Steel Clouds originally launched on Steam in January 2020 as an HD re-release of a game first created in 2017. The game received a significant content and engine update on April 22, 2021, upgrading all images to Full HD and adding new scenes and animations. On May 22, 2025, the developer released "Deep Sync" — described explicitly as "the definitive version of the experience." This major overhaul rebuilt the game on a new engine, upgraded all visuals to 4K, added Steam Achievements, Cloud Saves, controller support, multi-platform compatibility (Mac, Linux, Steam Deck), unlimited save slots, and new audio. The developer explicitly called this the definitive version and gave no indication of further planned content beyond this release. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap for future updates, and no outstanding developer commitments. The game's two post-launch major updates span April 2021 and May 2025 — a very irregular pattern with no implied ongoing cadence — and the most recent explicitly frames itself as a completion of the experience.
