Between Horizons launched on March 25, 2024 as a complete narrative detective adventure. Since release, DigiTales has shipped two major updates: version 1.2.0 on June 4, 2025 (a substantial overhaul including lighting reworks, bug fixes, visual improvements, and story logic refinements) and version 1.3.0 on March 25, 2026 (a second-anniversary patch introducing a brand-new 2D camera mode alongside further polish and bug fixes). Crucially, the March 25, 2026 post makes clear where the studio's focus now lies: DigiTales states they have "been very busy developing our third detective adventure From Ruins," which is coming to Steam in 2027 and already available to wishlist. The anniversary update is framed explicitly as something the team "carved out the past few weeks" to deliver as a gift to the community — not as part of an ongoing content roadmap for Between Horizons. No future updates, DLC, or additional content for Between Horizons have been announced or teased. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which released on launch day. The June 2025 post did tease "another major Between Horizons update planned" with "a whole new and pretty unique feature" — and that update was delivered as version 1.3.0 in March 2026 (the 2D mode). That promise has been fulfilled. The studio's attention has now shifted fully to its next game. Between Horizons is set aboard the Zephyr, humanity's first generation ship en route to another star. You assume the role of Chief of Security Stella, who was born on the ship 24 years ago. Dive into the conspiracy behind the incident that threatens to disrupt the Zephyr's social order and foil its mission.

Between Horizons is a modern 2.5D pixel art adventure that brings a branching narrative into a semi-open world. The team at DigiTales has applied numerous lessons from their first game Lacuna and proven solutions to detective game design problems to maximize player agency in the investigation process – all the while maintaining the tight pacing of a meaningful story that will ask you to reevaluate your moral compass and make increasingly tough decisions as the situation aboard the ship spirals out of control.
