Biolab Wars

Biolab Wars launched on August 23, 2019 as a complete 2D retro-style platformer. Since launch, the developer (2ndBoss) has delivered several free content updates: a new playable character (Jack) added on October 28, 2020, a Boss Rush mode with online leaderboards on June 23, 2021, and quality-of-life feature patches along the way. On April 17, 2023, the developer announced a major "DX" update — adding 8-directional shooting, ammo rebalancing, a new stage, and other improvements — timed to coincide with the release of their separate game, Wild Dogs, on April 20, 2023. This DX update was framed as a free enhancement for existing owners and was accompanied by a price adjustment. The April 20, 2023 announcement represents the last major developer communication. There is no unreleased DLC on the store, no roadmap pointing to future content, and no developer statement indicating further updates are planned. The game's one DLC (a soundtrack) was released on May 9, 2020. With no outstanding commitments and silence extending well past any historical update cadence since April 2023, the game appears to be content-complete as of the April 20, 2023 DX update release.
