Bit Blaster XL launched on January 22, 2016 as a retro arcade shoot 'em up and has received steady patches and improvements over the years. The developer shipped meaningful feature updates in 2016 and 2017, and in March 2020 released "Super Bit Blaster XL" — a massively overhauled version made free to all existing owners — effectively representing the game's most substantial content milestone. The most recent update, V23 on March 6, 2025 (with hotfixes through March 16, 2025), was a housekeeping patch addressing platform compatibility, quality-of-life improvements, and technical maintenance. The developer has not announced any future content for Bit Blaster XL. The only DLC ever listed — the soundtrack — was released on December 5, 2016. Developer communications since 2020 have largely centered on announcing new standalone games (Poosh XL in May 2023, Flip Flop XL in December 2024), indicating that Adamvision Studios has moved on to new projects rather than expanding this title further.
