Black Book

Black Book launched on August 10, 2021 as a complete card-based RPG adventure rooted in Slavic folklore. It received a Supporter Pack on launch day and a paid rogue-like DLC — Endless Battles (Battle Mode) — on February 18, 2022. Both DLC items are fully released. On July 30, 2025, developer Vladimir Beletsky published a post titled "What Comes Next," confirming that Morteshka has entered preproduction on a continuation of the Black Book story — a sequel set in a snow-covered, late 19th-century Russian Empire. The post shared early concept art, described planned improvements to combat, dialogue, and world exploration, and discussed the long-shelved "Old Egor" storyline, noting it may be released as a DLC for the sequel or as a short standalone game. This is the developer's clearest statement about what comes next for the Black Book universe, and it establishes that further content is actively being developed. On August 4, 2025, Morteshka followed through on a teaser from the July 30 post by adding a free 56-page comic book to the Supporter Pack, telling the origin story of Old Egor. This was the last official developer communication and confirms the studio remains engaged. As of October 8, 2026 — approximately 14 months after the July 30, 2025 "What Comes Next" post — no further updates about the sequel or additional content have appeared in the news feed. However, the sequel was explicitly described as being in early preproduction, with no release window given, so a long development period is entirely expected. The developer's stated intent to continue the Black Book universe remains the most recent and authoritative signal.
