Black Powder Red Earth® launched on Steam on March 29, 2021, graduating from Early Access. The developer's own roadmap post from November 2020 described the game as "120 days from completion," and that completion arc culminated in the full release. The final major content delivery was the 12-mission single-player campaign, which launched on March 23, 2021 — the last piece of content promised in the November 2020 roadmap. After the full release, the developer shipped a quality-of-life feature patch on July 19, 2021 (adding animation speed controls), and most recently issued a Windows stability fix on February 25, 2026. No new missions, operations areas, expansions, or other content have been announced since the game left Early Access. The only DLC on record is the 8-Bit War Soundtrack, which was released back on March 2, 2020. There is no roadmap, no announced future content, and no unreleased DLC. The post-launch activity has been maintenance-only, consistent with a finished product being kept technically compatible. The game launched as a complete package and has received no content additions since March 2021.

Staffed with US special operations combat veterans, PMC select, train and lead armies of local nationals in conventional and unconventional warfare operations. Combat actions conducted by the contractors are not considered acts of war. They are matters of foreign internal defense.
