Evaluation
Brutal Orchestra launched on December 17, 2021 and has since received a steady stream of free content updates from its two-person developer team. Three major named updates have shipped post-launch: "Egg of Incubus" on May 2, 2022; "Exquisite Corpse" on October 23, 2022; and "True Zeal" on January 23, 2026. Each brought new party members, enemies, items, music, and achievements to the game. Between these major updates, the developers have also released a number of feature patches and bug fixes, including the significant "Human Canvas" update in September 2024 that added Steam Workshop/mod support.
The gap between major content updates has been variable — roughly five months between the first two, then a longer gap before True Zeal in January 2026 — but the developers remained active throughout, shipping feature patches and bug fixes and publicly explaining the quiet periods (Talia working on a separate project, Nico studying abroad). The "Human Canvas" post from September 2024 explicitly framed future content as an open question pending discussion, and the True Zeal announcement in December 2025 confirmed the team was still actively working on Brutal Orchestra. As of the most recent major update on January 23, 2026, no statement has been made that development is complete or that no further content is planned.
The developer has not announced any specific upcoming content, but has also not indicated the game is finished. Given the established pattern of major free updates and continued active engagement through early 2026, the game remains in an active development posture. We are now approximately five months past the True Zeal update (as of June 22, 2026), which is within the range of previous update gaps. A September 2022 developer post also mentioned DLC being "slowly cooked in the background," and a September 2024 post raised the possibility of future content "as a content update or even potentially a DLC," suggesting the team continues to weigh future directions for the game.

About this game
Hieronymus Bosch's Brutal Orchestra is a Turn-Based Roguelike Strategy Game with resource management and deck-building elements. Employ the help of damaged and daring fools, equip ancient and insidious items and make deals with the devil on your path to revenge.

Revenge:
You died. Someone killed you. You are now in Purgatory and you will never escape. Make a deal with the "demon" Bosch and set off into this brutal and bastardous world, finding all manner of demented and degenerate friends and foes on your quest to get petty revenge.

Pigment:
Purgatory bleeds pigment. It is a strange substance that Bosch has granted you the ability to control. Channeling pigment allows one to perform powerful and absurd abilities. Pigment comes in many colours, each derived from a different source, some even of your own flesh.

Fools:
This may be a place of the dead but even here there are still poor fools eking out a pathetic existence. Some would make for valuable party members or at least entertaining conversation. Most, however, are dim wits or damaged beyond all reason.

Treasure!:
Find over 100+ powerful artifacts that dramatically shape how you play Brutal Orchestra, often plucked directly from the artworks of Hieronymus Bosch.

Hell:
Purgatory is not a gentle place, it is a writhing dump of all that has died in many worlds. Endless deserts of pale sand are stalked by parasitic fish. Storm-cloaked mountain tops hide ungodly things above and below. The Garden waits for you at the end of time.
Hieronymus Bosch's Brutal Orchestra was developed by Talia bob Mair and Nicolás Delgado. With Sound Design by Pato Flores and Chris Dang and Composed by Publio Delgado.
