Evaluation

BUTCHER launched on October 5, 2016 as a fully released game. In the months following launch, the developer shipped active post-launch support: a leaderboards and gamepad update on December 5, 2016; the W.I.M.P. easy mode DLC on December 7, 2016; a Level Editor with Steam Workshop support on February 13, 2017; and a free 3-level campaign pack alongside a standalone demo on July 11, 2017. That July 2017 update was the last substantive content addition to the game itself. After July 2017, communications on the BUTCHER page shifted entirely to publisher promotions for other Crunching Koalas titles — announcements for CARRION (February 2018), Once Upon a Jester (June 2022), The Gap (October 2023), and a publisher sale (October 2024). None of these posts indicate any new content or development activity for BUTCHER itself. Both DLC items — the Soundtrack (released October 5, 2016) and the W.I.M.P. DLC (released December 7, 2016) — are fully released with nothing listed as unreleased. The store description contains no references to live service elements, seasonal content, or planned additions. The developer has not communicated any future content plans for the game since July 2017. BUTCHER launched as a complete package and received a modest post-launch content pass that wrapped up by mid-2017, after which the game has remained unchanged.
