Evaluation
Button Button Up! launched out of Early Access on August 9, 2019 after approximately four years of development. The launch post describes the game as a fully realized product with a complete single-player mode (4 chapters), local co-op (3 chapters, 90 levels), a local versus mode (2 gameplay types, 12 maps), and a challenge mode. The developer's launch announcement acknowledged they would "continue to care for it" and listen to feedback, but framed this as general post-launch support rather than a commitment to new content. The only DLC ever released — the official soundtrack — shipped on the same day as the 1.0 launch. No additional DLC has been announced or listed as unreleased. The Early Access announcement from July 2017 mentioned aspirational features like online co-op and a singleplayer story DLC, but those plans were either fulfilled during the Early Access period or quietly dropped — notably, no post-launch communication has referenced them, and the June 2019 pre-launch update confirmed the game was essentially complete at that point. There have been no developer news posts since August 9, 2019, and no new content has been announced or shipped in the nearly seven years since launch. The game launched as a finished product and has received no post-launch content updates.
Evidence
1.0 launch post describes the full game — single mode, co-op, versus, and challenge modes — as complete after four years of development. Developer says they will listen to feedback and optimize, but frames the game as finished.
Pre-launch status update states all content is 'almost complete (V0.9999999999)' and confirms the game is approaching full release with no new modes or content mentioned beyond what was already built.
