Evaluation
On January 14, 2025, the development team posted a formal announcement confirming the end of development for Call of the Wild: The Angler. The post explicitly states that no new content or updates will be made, and that the team has moved on to other projects within Avalanche Studios Group. The game remains fully playable — online and offline — and all previously released content remains purchasable and accessible.
The game launched on August 31, 2022 and received a strong run of post-launch content: the Norway Reserve (December 2022), Spain Reserve (October 2023), South Africa Reserve (March 2024), and Japan Reserve (October 2024), along with numerous gear packs, cosmetic DLC, and feature patches throughout its life. The final patch (2.1.1, November 28, 2024) added the last fish variations to the remaining reserves, and appears to be the last substantive update before the January 2025 closure announcement.
All 12 listed DLC items have been released. No unreleased content remains on the store. The developer's January 2025 statement is unambiguous and has not been followed by any reversal or new content announcement.
