Evaluation

Cargo Hunters launched into Early Access on March 9, 2026 and remains firmly in that phase. The developer has maintained consistent and active communication throughout the Early Access period. On July 31, 2026, the developer published a formal roadmap covering approximately the next year and a half of planned development, describing upcoming new locations, enemies, mechanics, and other substantial additions. They also announced a shift from twice-weekly updates to less frequent but larger updates, clarifying this is to focus on more significant content — not a slowdown. This roadmap is the clearest possible signal that substantial planned content remains ahead. On July 15, 2026, the studio announced a publishing partnership with HypeTrain Digital, stating it would help them "focus on development, expand the game, and bring Cargo Hunters to more players." Since the roadmap post, the developer has continued shipping updates. Update 0.26.37 on August 10, 2026 added a new in-game event and support for eight additional languages. Updates 0.26.39 (September 17, 2026) and 0.26.39.61 (September 19, 2026) delivered further gameplay improvements and bug fixes. The most recent developer communication was on September 19, 2026 — well within any reasonable activity window and consistent with the new longer-cycle update cadence described in the July 31 post. The co-op mode, which entered its first public alpha on June 12, 2026, was explicitly described as something that "will continue to evolve and improve with every update throughout the entire Early Access period." The game is clearly mid-development with a significant amount of planned content still to come.

About this game

We have lost everything. Somehow we keep on moving.

Cargo Hunters is a third-person extraction PvE shooter in which you control a remote-controlled humanoid robot to scavenge resources on a decaying Earth.

Collect and lose loot. Build your shelter. Face challenges. Battle enemies. Fall. Rise. Survive no matter how you define survival.

A forgotten home.

After the global temperature rise, mankind faced the emergence of superviruses released from the melting Antarctic ice. Within a few years, they wiped out everything that moved, grew, or breathed.

Those with wealth or power escaped the dying Earth, fleeing to [classified] during the 'Second Exodus' colonization program in [classified]. Just before the first outbreak. Now they’re paying a ton of money to get their shiny, useless memorabilia back.

Escape before it's too late.

It’s all about you and how you get the job done. Brute force, sneak, steal, craft, buy, find. Do what you will.

But once you lose, you lose everything you’ve found. So think carefully. Equip pragmatically.

Carrying capacity, weight, noise, condition—everything matters.

The world’s dead. The loot isn’t.

You already have a human-shaped body. So wear human clothes or armor. Use their weapons. Add replaceable limbs. Dismember the fallen. Harvest their body parts. Recycle what’s unnecessary. That is the daily routine.

Choose your weapons wisely.

A lot of firearms brings a lot of trouble (and fun). Different specs, ballistics, conditions, ammo types, modifications, and handling.

So it’s up to you: what do you prefer? Blunt force, maybe? Huh.

So welcome home, hunter.

Let’s begin our aimless, ever-changing, merciless journey together. This cruel no-man’s homeland awaits.

But for whom?
