Carton launched on October 2, 2016, and received a handful of patches and bug fixes in the weeks immediately following release. A FAQ post from October 26, 2016 acknowledged platform compatibility issues and mentioned the developer was starting a new game project. By February 5, 2017, Linux and Mac support was added — rounding out the initially promised platform coverage. The most recent developer communication of any kind was a Winter 2019 sale announcement on December 19, 2019, which was purely promotional and contained no mention of future content, updates, or ongoing development for Carton. Since February 2017, there have been no feature updates, content additions, or development commitments communicated for the game.
