Evaluation

CASE: Online was an unofficial fan-made multiplayer game inspired by CASE 2: Animatronics Survival, released on April 9, 2024. On November 14, 2024, the developer announced the game was being cancelled after the original IP holder (Walnut/VALNAT LLC) informed the team that they could not legally use the CASE: Animatronics characters, assets, or branding. The team acknowledged they could not continue without making the project an entirely different game, which would defeat its purpose as a fan tribute. A follow-up announcement on December 3, 2024 confirmed the cancellation is permanent — the game "is never coming back and is fully cancelled." The developer noted the game would remain accessible to players who already had it in their libraries, but could not guarantee it would stay available indefinitely. The game currently has no purchase options available, confirming it has been removed from the storefront. One team member (Yae Schlommo) was offered the opportunity to transition to working on the official CASE 2: Animatronics Survival multiplayer mode, but this is a separate project — CASE: Online itself has no future development planned.
Evidence
Official announcement confirmed CASE: Online is fully cancelled and will never return. The game may remain in existing players' libraries but its availability is not guaranteed. One developer will move on to contribute to the official CASE 2 game instead.

Cancellation announced due to legal issues — the IP holder clarified that fan games using CASE: Animatronics characters, assets, and branding are not permitted. The team decided to cancel rather than strip all CASE-related content from the project.

About this game

CASE: Online – A Fan-Made Multiplayer Tribute to CASE 2: Animatronics Survival

Step back into the terrifying world inspired by CASE 2: Animatronics Survival with CASE: Online, an unofficial fan-made game bringing back the pulse-pounding multiplayer action fans loved. Play with up to 8 players per game—2 animatronics and 6 survivors—and dive into a suspense-filled experience where you’ll either be hunting or hunted.

Gameplay Overview:

  • Animatronics: Team up with a fellow animatronic to hunt down survivors before they escape. Use strategic communication to trap your prey.

  • Survivors: Work together or go solo to repair generators, gather items, and use EMPs or tasers to evade the animatronics and survive.

Game Modes:

  • Hide and Hunt: Survivors must evade animatronics for 5 minutes to win. Each minute, the hunter gains vision of survivors for 15 seconds, raising the tension with each glimpse. If survivors last the full time, they win; if animatronics catch every survivor, they claim victory.

Created by fans for fans, CASE: Online keeps the spirit of CASE 2: Animatronics Survival alive, delivering familiar gameplay in a new, unofficial format.
