Catch & Release launched on June 7, 2018 and received a steady stream of updates through early 2020. The developer shipped several notable content additions after launch: "The Call of the Wild" update in July 2018, a weather system update and night fishing update in mid-to-late 2019, and the Cave Update in February 2020 — followed by a community showcase post on April 29, 2020 celebrating players exploring the cave content. That April 2020 post is the last developer communication on record. The April 2019 Foundation Update post (NEWS-1) included a note that "there is more to come in the following months," which was a forward-looking statement at the time. The content that followed — the weather update, the night update, and the cave update — plausibly fulfilled that promise. No new content has been announced since, no unreleased DLC is listed on the store, and there has been no developer communication since April 29, 2020. That is over six years of silence as of June 2026, well beyond any reasonable expectation of ongoing development. The game appears to have concluded its post-launch content cycle with the Cave Update in early 2020. It launched as a finished VR fishing experience and received meaningful expansions to its content over roughly two years before going quiet.
