Cavern Kings entered Steam Early Access on September 30, 2014 and received regular updates through 2015 and into 2016. The last developer communication was a bug-fix hotfix posted on October 22, 2016. Since then, the studio has been completely silent. Most significantly, the store description now opens with a prominent notice: "THIS GAME IS INCOMPLETE AND NO LONGER IN DEVELOPMENT." The developer has directly acknowledged that the game will not be finished. Despite this, it remains purchasable on Steam and is still flagged as Early Access — meaning it never reached a 1.0 release and has been left in an unfinished state. The store page still lists planned features (additional characters, new weapons, more bosses, etc.) that were never delivered. Anyone purchasing this game today should be aware that it is in an unfinished state and the developer has explicitly stated it will not receive further development.
