Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone entered Steam Early Access on March 6, 2025 and has been in active, if turbulent, development since. The developer shipped six major "Megapatches" between April 2025 and December 2025, each bringing substantial gameplay changes, new content, and technical improvements. In December 2025, the developer announced that the full 1.0 PC release was targeting Q1/Q2 2026. However, the most recent developer communication — a May 5, 2026 post from the Game Director — paints a more complicated picture. The studio acknowledged entering Early Access too early, disclosed that The Farm 51 is undergoing a formal restructuring process including creditor negotiations, and described the past year as one of the hardest in the company's history. The post lists a wide range of improvements still planned: story rewrites, full voice-over re-recording in key languages, enemy AI overhauls, expanded main and faction missions, additional open world content, and further quality-of-life improvements. Critically, the developer explicitly stated they are not ready to announce dates or a new roadmap, as they do not want to repeat the mistake of making promises they cannot keep. The previously announced Q1/Q2 2026 1.0 target window has now passed without a release, and no new date has been communicated. While the developer affirms they have not abandoned the game and work is ongoing, the studio's financial distress and the absence of a new roadmap or timeline mean there is meaningful uncertainty about when — and in what form — the game will reach its 1.0 release.
