Content Warning

Content Warning launched on April 1, 2024 as a co-op horror game from a small five-person team. The developers were transparent early on that the game was a side project — the core team took time away from their main project HASTE to build it. After a burst of post-launch updates through mid-2024, a July 29, 2024 patch note explicitly stated the team was returning to their prior commitments and that no further updates were planned during that period. The November 17, 2025 patch note made the studio's position unambiguous: "Content Warning is not a live-service or early access game, which means that we can't promise updates with more content. The game contains what it says on the Steam store, and any additional updates are a bonus… at the moment, there are no plans to return to CW. If this changes, we will let you all know." The game did receive continued maintenance work from a porting studio, culminating in a major milestone on April 1, 2026 (the game's 2nd birthday): simultaneous launches on PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, along with crossplay added to the Steam version. A follow-up bug fix patch was released on April 30, 2026 to address post-launch console issues, and as of that date the developer confirmed they were still working through Nintendo Switch crossplay certification. The April 2026 console launch and the crossplay update represent the practical completion of the game's post-launch roadmap — the porting work the developers had been referencing since late 2024 is now done. The developer has been clear that no new content is planned. The April 30, 2026 patch is the last known developer communication and addressed the remaining outstanding technical issue (Switch crossplay), with no new features or content announced.
