Cooking Companions

Cooking Companions launched on October 7, 2021 as a psychological horror visual novel. Since launch, Deer Dream Studios has delivered several rounds of free post-launch content: a major free update on February 27, 2023 added four new endings, doubled the achievements, and expanded nightmare mode; a large v2.0 patch on July 26, 2024 revised the entire script, added new secrets, and included a new animated scene; and finally, on April 30, 2025, the developer shipped a substantial console release update — also free to existing Steam owners — adding 15 fully animated cutscenes, gameplay improvements, and full translations into six languages (Spanish, Chinese Simplified/Traditional, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese). The April 30, 2025 update was framed by the developer as a celebratory "thank you" to the Steam community for years of support, language that signals a natural conclusion to the game's content arc rather than a stepping stone to more. The studio has since shifted its focus to its sequel, Dread Weight, which launched on July 29, 2024. No new DLC, updates, or content announcements for Cooking Companions have been made since April 30, 2025 — now nearly 14 months ago. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which shipped on launch day. The developer's attention has clearly moved on to the sequel, the most recent update was framed as a culminating gesture of gratitude, and there are no outstanding content commitments or announcements for Cooking Companions. The game appears complete as of the April 30, 2025 console update.
