Crab Champions

Crab Champions has been in Early Access since April 1, 2023, and has received consistent major content updates throughout that period. The documented major updates are: The Variety Update Part 2 (March 4, 2024), The Elemental Update (September 1, 2024), The Anvil Update (March 24, 2025), and The Island Update (November 2, 2025). This establishes a sustained cadence of roughly one major update every 5–8 months. The most important signal is a developer post from March 18, 2026 — a direct statement about the game's future. In it, the developer (a solo developer) confirmed that the next major update is actively in progress with weekly beta branch updates being pushed. They published a specific checklist of content still needed before the game can leave Early Access and reach 1.0, including: new islands, a parkour overhaul ("Parkour 2.0"), a major boss character awakening, more enemies, improved enemy visuals, a proper final boss, a full soundtrack release, and more weapons and abilities. They stated the goal is to reach 1.0 "next year" — meaning 2027 from the perspective of that March 2026 post. The last major content update shipped on November 2, 2025. As of today, September 17, 2026, that is approximately 10.5 months ago — which is within or at the outer edge of the historical 5–8 month cadence, though somewhat extended. However, the developer explicitly noted in March 2026 that the next update was still being worked on, and cited a new baby as a reason for a slower pace. There is no signal of development having stopped since that March 2026 post; the developer was actively running beta branch updates at that time. The game remains purchasable and in Early Access. There is a substantial, named list of unshipped content that the developer has committed to delivering before 1.0, making clear that more content is definitively planned.
