Creepy Castle launched on October 31, 2016 and received its first major post-launch content update on November 17, 2016 — "The Final Fist" (version 1.1), a new scenario that wrapped up the game's first story season. Then on May 13, 2017, the developer posted an update (version 1.121) explicitly announcing two upcoming content additions: a non-canon "Meta Town" scenario celebrating the fan community, and a new canon scenario with a fresh character and setting that would kick off "Season 2." The developer said to expect "more fun to be had in Creepy Castle over the summer."
Neither of those announced pieces of content was ever released. More significantly, the May 13, 2017 post is the last public communication from the developer — there have been no further updates, announcements, or patch notes of any kind since then. As of June 2026, that is over nine years of silence following a specific, named content promise. The announced Season 2 content and Meta Town scenario appear to have never materialized, and no explanation has been given for why development on them stopped.

Creepy Castle is an exploratory, sidescrolling RPG about an awesome moth, conveniently named Moth, who aims to uncover the vast secrets of a creepy castle. It’s a fresh and charming adventure with the looks of a classic, but don’t be fooled by its retro appearance—it’ll kill you with modern gameplay mechanics. A twist on traditional turn-based combat, Duels offer players a chance to score free hits on their opponent by performing well. Players shouldn’t let their guard down outside of Duels, however, or they might allow Moth to be squished by one of the castle’s many real-time dangers, like traditional run-and-jump platformers.
