Crimson Tactics: The Rise of The White Banner launched in full on September 5, 2023, at which point the developer declared it both feature and content complete. However, the studio returned in June 2026, acknowledged the game had been left in a state they weren't proud of, and committed to finishing what they originally promised during Early Access. Since then, development has been active and accelerating.
On June 12, 2026, the "Herald of The White Banner" update shipped, bringing localization into 15 languages, a full RNG rework, improved visuals, and a teaser for an upcoming story arc — with the original Narrative Designer brought back to help complete the story.
On August 3, 2026, a comprehensive balance patch (v2.1.0.0) shipped alongside a devlog announcing an imminent Mount System rework and teasing a new mount type. Stability patches followed on August 7 and August 25, 2026.
Most recently, on September 14, 2026 — just one day before today's assessment date — the developer shipped the "Wings of The White Banner" update (v2.2.0.0), which overhauled the Mount System and added two new mounts (Pegasus and Gryphon) alongside a new Beastmaster class. Crucially, this update also includes a formal roadmap for future free content updates. The roadmap explicitly notes that the 2 Prologue Dragons will become playable in the main scenario as part of upcoming updates. The developer describes this roadmap as tentative given their small team size, but the commitment to additional content is clear and specific.
All planned content announced in the roadmap will be free to existing players and is not gated by any DLC purchases. The two DLC items listed on the store (Soundtrack and Artbook) are both already released and are supplementary items, not story or gameplay content.

The kingdom of Wendalle is in dire straits! It is divided by differing ideals and flooded with mistrust. A siege leads to a civil war, and the civil war threatens the stability of the entire kingdom as each dukedom competes in a race for Wendalle’s throne.
One of these dukedoms, Swozalta, is ruled by Duke Arsenio Duran, a cruel and cunning man with a sinister plot to acquire higher power and a higher standing within the kingdom. He crushes all those who stand in his way but one opponent seems elusive - a small group of rebels that are persistent in their quest to expose and defeat him. However, the duke’s powerful military is slowly but surely routing this rebellion, and it is slowly becoming obvious that its days are numbered.
