Evaluation

CrossCode launched as a full 1.0 release on September 20, 2018, after a lengthy Early Access period. The game received several post-launch updates adding features like an arena mode (version 1.1, May 2019) and New Game+ (version 1.2, September 2019), culminating in the "A New Home" paid DLC on February 26, 2021 — the game's final major content expansion, which added a new post-game area and concluded the story's remaining threads. On September 20, 2021, Radical Fish Games explicitly stated that version 1.4.2 was the last proper (non-hotfix) update for CrossCode, and that the team's focus was shifting to their next project (then called "Project Terra," now known as Alabaster Dawn). This is a clear developer statement signaling the end of meaningful CrossCode development. All five DLC items listed on the store have been released, with no unreleased content remaining. Since then, only minor maintenance hotfixes have appeared, including a small crash and typo fix released on September 20, 2025 for the game's 7th anniversary — the developer even jokingly called it "The Last Final Hotfix" and expressed hope it would truly be the final one. Radical Fish Games has since launched Alabaster Dawn in Early Access (May 2026) and is running a Kickstarter for a follow-up project (SHADE Protocol, June 2026), confirming their full attention is on new titles. CrossCode is a complete, finished game.
