Evaluation

Cryptark launched out of Early Access on June 20, 2017, after roughly 2.5 years of development including a substantial Early Access period. At launch, the developer noted plans to continue updating the game (specifically mentioning local co-op changes), and a small number of post-launch patches followed. However, no major content expansions were released after the 1.0 launch — the only DLC listed is the soundtrack, which was released back in November 2015. The developer's post-launch attention shifted entirely toward GUNHEAD, the 3D FPS sequel to Cryptark. GUNHEAD was announced in November 2017, received a development update in June 2018, resurfaced with gameplay footage in March 2023, launched its demo in September 2023, and was released on November 8, 2023. In October 2023, Alientrap made Cryptark free for 48 hours as a promotional tie-in for GUNHEAD's launch, and released a small quality-of-life patch adding an Easy Mode and a no-screenshake toggle — the first and only notable update to the game in years. The store description contains no mention of planned updates, future content, or ongoing development. There are no unreleased DLC entries. The developer has made no statements suggesting further work on Cryptark is planned. With GUNHEAD now shipped, the sequel arc is complete, and Cryptark itself is a finished product. The game launched as a complete 1.0 release on June 20, 2017, with no subsequent major content additions, making that date the point at which the game's content was complete.
Evidence
GUNHEAD, the FPS sequel to Cryptark, launched on November 8, 2023. The sequel arc that began with Cryptark's 2017 release is now complete, and no further Cryptark content was announced alongside or after the sequel's launch.
