Evaluation

Cup and Counter launched on July 20, 2026 from two-person studio Little Big Byte, and has been receiving substantial updates at a remarkable pace ever since. In the roughly 2.5 months since launch, the developer shipped at least one major content update roughly every 2–4 weeks, alongside a steady stream of feature patches and bug fixes. The biggest milestone so far is the Cup and Counter 2.0 update, released on October 5, 2026 — the same day as today's assessment. This is a sweeping overhaul that adds 4-player online co-op, 108 new drink recipes (including entirely new drink categories like boba tea and matcha), a fully redesigned progression system, a reworked and significantly expanded game world, a character creator, a logo designer, and Twitch integration, among many other additions. In the 2.0 post, the developer explicitly notes that the new progression system and expanded world "give us options to expand the game later" and make it "easier to add new content" — signaling ongoing development intent. Prior to 2.0, the update pattern was equally active: Update 1.3.0 (September 1, 2026) was described as the largest update since launch at that point, adding 31 new plant varieties, new seating types, vending machines, seasonal visuals, and improved employee restocking. Updates 1.1.0 through 1.2.0 overhauled the save system, delivery mechanics, café structure, and added a second floor. Throughout, the developer has consistently teased features still being worked on — seasons becoming "more relevant," the apartment being expanded, and the paintable-items system being extended to more furniture. There are no unreleased DLC listings and no formal named roadmap, but the developer's consistent pattern of shipping substantial content updates and explicit statements about future plans make clear this game is very much still growing.

About this game

Build and grow your own cafe in Cup and Counter. Learn to craft a wide range of drinks, serve a stream of customers, and shape your coffee shop into a space that feels truly yours.

Craft Delicious Drinks

Learn to make a wide range of drinks as new recipes and ingredients become available. Work quickly, follow customer preferences, and keep orders flowing during busy rushes.

Build your Dream Cafe

Start small and grow your cafe into a bustling local favorite. Buy new equipment, expand your floor space, and shape every part of your shop to match your vision.

Manage your Employees

As you grow, you will be able to hire and manage employees to help run your cafe. Give them free rein, or assign them the tasks you really don't want to do.

Serve Customers and Build Your Reputation

Fast service and well-made drinks keep customers happy and your reputation strong. Get orders wrong or keep people waiting too long, and your cafe will start to feel the pressure.

Manage Stock and Deliveries

Stay on top of your supplies so you are always ready for the next rush. Plan ahead to avoid badly timed deliveries, but be careful not to overorder. Food and coffee beans won't stay fresh forever.

Run the Business

A great cafe needs more than good drinks. Balance rent, stock costs, and expansion plans while adjusting prices to find the sweet spot between customer satisfaction and turning a profit.
