Cursed originally launched on February 18, 2022 as a retro point-and-click horror adventure, based on a passion project the developer first made in 2009. In May 2025, the developer announced a full ground-up remake targeting Fall 2025, featuring a Classic mode and an Enhanced/Extended mode with significant new content. That window passed without a release, and a January 6, 2026 progress update acknowledged the delay — the game had grown to more than twice the size of the original — but offered no new release date. The situation has since been resolved. On July 28, 2026, the developer posted that the Cursed remake is "imminent" and will release in August 2026 as a free update. The existing Steam listing will be updated so players can choose to launch either the original 2009 version or the new 2026 remake. The remake includes an all-new Extended mode with substantial additional content. An exact date within August is still to be announced, but the release is confirmed and described as very close.
