Dashy Square launched on April 25, 2016 and received a consistent stream of updates through its first two years. The developer shipped meaningful updates regularly: version 1.61 on May 1, 2016, version 1.63 on May 5, 2016, version 1.70 on May 23, 2016, version 1.80 on July 27, 2016, the major version 2.0 update on March 29, 2017 (which delivered the Level Editor that had been listed as "Coming Soon" in the store description), and several follow-up patches through April 2017. The last recorded developer communication was the version 2.05 patch on December 19, 2017, which signed off with "More updates coming soon as usual!" However, no updates of any kind have followed since that date — now over eight years ago as of June 2026. The store description still lists "Level Editor (Coming Soon)" even though the Level Editor shipped in version 2.0 in March 2017, suggesting the store page has not been maintained. With no developer posts, patches, or announcements since December 19, 2017, the game has effectively been in a dormant state for an extended period. The game launched as a finished product with post-launch content additions, and all observable development activity ceased after the December 2017 patch.
