Evaluation
Dead Effect launched into Early Access in mid-2014 and officially reached its full 1.0 release on December 17, 2014, when the developer declared the game "Gold" and complete. The news post from that date explicitly stated: "Dead Effect PC/MAC is finally completed." The store description presents a fixed feature set — a finished single-player campaign, specific game modes, and a defined weapon roster — with no mention of planned updates or additional content.
Following the 1.0 launch, developer communications shifted almost entirely toward Dead Effect 2. Posts from March 2015 and November 2015 announced Dead Effect 2's development for PC/Mac, and a December 2017 holiday message referenced "our games" in general — nothing in any of these posts indicated plans to add new content to Dead Effect 1. In fact, the March 2015 post explicitly stated that Dead Effect 1 Linux support would not happen due to the team's focus on the sequel.
There has been no developer communication of any kind for Dead Effect 1 since December 2017, and no DLC has ever been listed for the game. The game launched as a complete, finished product and has had no post-launch content additions since its 1.0 release date.
