Definitely Not Fried Chicken launched into version 1.0 on September 29, 2023, graduating from Early Access. Since launch, Dope Games has continued to develop the game meaningfully.
Two major content updates have shipped post-launch: Police Raids & Bribery (December 20, 2023), which introduced an entirely new gameplay system, and "Flying High!" (May 23, 2025), which added a purchasable airplane, runway, and international export orders. Between and after these, the developer has shipped numerous feature patches adding things like guard patrol routes, employee management improvements, a save backup system, and gameplay rebalancing, along with regular bug-fix patches. The most recent developer communication of any kind was a bug-fix patch on June 10, 2025.
The gap between the two major updates was roughly 17 months (December 2023 to May 2025). As of today, October 8, 2026, approximately 16 months have passed since the last major content update (May 23, 2025) and approximately 16 months since any developer communication (June 10, 2025). This is approaching the upper boundary of the established ~17-month cadence window between major releases, but falls just within it.
The developer has not announced that development is complete or winding down, and no specific future content has been named. Given the sustained multi-year update history and that the current silence is still roughly within the historical gap between major releases, the game continues to show the hallmarks of a title receiving ongoing development attention — though another few months of silence would begin to suggest the pattern has ended.

Definitely Not Fried Chicken is a business management sim with a Twist!Grow your drugs trade through legitimate fronts by managing both sides of the business. Acquire new "businesses", meet new clientele, develop more potent narcotics, make lots of money and leave a city in ruin!
Set in a sunshine soaked city in the glamorous 80's, DNFC will test your entrepreneurial business skills.
Build your drugs compound from the ground up, buy adjoining plots of land and expand. Design and lay out your complete production line and establish distribution routes. Fortify your compounds defences and make sure any "overly-enthusiastic" customers can't break in. Research and develop better strains of narcotics like marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.
But simply making a great product is not enough, you need somewhere to sell it from! This is where your legitimate businesses come in - you'll need to build and manage these fronts, including selling legal goods to avoid detection, people gotta eat right? Run a chain of Fried Chicken stores or diversify your portfolio with other businesses. Different places have different people with different tastes.
The backbone of every business is your workforce, the people who tirelessly carry out the tasks you assign them for minimum wage. A happy employee is a productive employee so it's important to make sure your staff have the basic necessities like washrooms and a place to eat. A well furnished break room is great for staff morale!
And safety equipment will really help with staff turnover/mortality rates...
