Evaluation
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles launched on October 15, 2021 and followed a clear post-launch content plan. The developer released a Character Pass in July 2022 explicitly promising five character packs by the end of December 2022. All five packs — plus associated standalone packs — shipped on schedule, with the final one, Gyutaro, arriving on November 15, 2022. The Character Pass news post from July 14, 2022 named every character included, and every one of them has since been released. The last DLC shipped on November 15, 2022, and the last balance patch was published on April 20, 2023.
There is one additional news post worth noting: a July 2, 2025 announcement promoting new features (Dual Ultimates, Gear System, Training Paths, etc.) links to a separate Steam App ID (2928600), which is a different game — almost certainly a sequel or updated standalone title — not additional content for this game. That post does not signal ongoing development for The Hinokami Chronicles itself.
All eight DLC listed on the store are released. The Character Pass covered a defined set of content that has fully shipped. The developer has made no announcements of additional content for this game since the final DLC in November 2022. The game launched as a narrative adaptation of specific anime arcs and its post-launch content plan was completed as communicated.
Evidence
Gyutaro Character Pack released, completing all 5 character packs promised in the Character Pass. The post confirms all packs included in the pass have now been distributed.
Gyutaro Character Pack — the final DLC in the Character Pass — released on November 15, 2022. All 8 DLC entries are marked as released with no unreleased items remaining.
