Descenders Next launched into Early Access on July 21, 2025 and has maintained an impressive pace of substantial updates since then. The development team at RageSquid has shipped six major content updates over roughly 13 months: the Multiplayer Update (December 2025), Career Mode (February 2026), Career Multiplayer (March 2026), The Parks and Peeks Update (May 2026), the Crew Deck Update (July 2026), and the Ring of Fire Update (August 14, 2026 — today's date), which added two new volcanic biomes (SnowCano and DirtCano), new achievements, new gear, and park objective rewards. Crucially, that same August 14, 2026 post explicitly announces what's coming next: FreeRide Mode, Mod Support, and a brand-new sport — Skiing. The developers further confirmed that after Skiing, Mountainbiking will be added. These are concrete commitments to future content, not vague promises. The game remains in Early Access per Steam's designation. With named upcoming features announced, a rapidly delivering team, and the game clearly still being built out toward its full vision, there is substantial content still to come before this game could be considered complete.
