DESOLATIUM: Prologue

DESOLATIUM: Prologue is a free standalone prologue game released on June 22, 2021, designed as a self-contained introduction to the DESOLATIUM universe while the full game was in development. It was never intended to receive ongoing content of its own — the developer has been explicit that their full development focus is on the main game, DESOLATIUM (a separate Steam title). The game launched in June 2021, received a polished improved version on June 25, 2021 (with better sound, improved video quality, redesigned dialogue, and Steam Achievements), and a Mac port in July 2021. In November 2021, the developer made it permanently free to attract more players to the Desolatium universe ahead of the main game's planned 2022 launch. On the one-year anniversary (June 23, 2022), the developer explicitly stated they are "100% focused on the development of the final game" and acknowledged that known bugs in the Prologue (achievements, VR) would not be prioritized — confirming the Prologue itself is no longer receiving meaningful development attention. No updates of any kind have been posted since June 23, 2022. This game shipped as a deliberately scoped prologue experience. It is complete as originally designed, and the developer has clearly communicated that their attention has moved on to the full game.
