Draft of Darkness

Draft of Darkness launched as v1.0 on August 23, 2023, graduating from Early Access. Since then, the solo developer (Crawly Games) has maintained a consistent pattern of content updates. Six major updates have shipped post-launch: the Halloween Perks Update v1.1 (October 26, 2023), the large Sewers Update v1.2 (April 4, 2024), the Halloween 2024 Improvement and Balance Update (October 28, 2024), Update v1.2.14 with new consumables, cards, and challenges (June 26, 2025), and Update v1.2.15 with the Companion Preservation system and new items and cards (October 27, 2025). These arrive roughly every 4–8 months, with a clear pattern of Halloween-timed releases. The developer did signal in the April 2024 Sewers Update post that they were winding down on large-scale updates, shifting toward smaller and more frequent patches — but explicitly confirmed plans to continue expanding Challenge Mode and Custom Mode content. The updates that followed delivered on exactly that. The June 2025 post also hinted at a "spooky time of the year" update, which materialized as the October 2025 release right on schedule. The most recent developer communication is a bug fix patch (v1.2.15_p3) issued on March 28, 2026, confirming continued active engagement with the game. The last major content release was October 27, 2025. Given the established cadence of roughly one major update per year (often in October), a next release would be expected around October 2026 — meaning we are currently within the historical cadence window as of today (October 8, 2026). No statement declaring the conclusion of development has been made.
